AI is Transforming the Workplace—Humanity Remains at the Core of Success

The room was filled with conversation as dozens of leaders gathered for the pre-International Women’s Day event organized by Kyndryl Finland and Samlink to be inspired by career stories and future work skills. The event was hosted by Kyndryl’s Piia Hoffsten-Myllylä and Anne Koljonen, and featured speakers who shared valuable insights on leadership, career paths, and the evolution of the workplace.
The event’s central message was clear: AI is not just technology, but a major force of change in the workplace that will impact the future of every organization. Automation, data analytics, and intelligent systems streamline processes and open up new opportunities. However, technology alone is not enough—success also relies on human skills such as communication and collaboration.
Curiosity is the Engine of Success
Curiosity about new things is not just an advantage; it is a prerequisite for success. According to Anna-Mari Ylihurula, Director of Business Operations at DNA Oyj, organizations should encourage leading through learning, not just skill development. When continuous learning and a desire for growth become skills, they propel both individuals and organizations forward.
In today’s world, organizations must ensure their foundations are solid. Ylihurula listed three areas that every organization should focus on: cloud, cybersecurity, and AI. These are critical success factors today. They are not just technical solutions, but strategic choices.
AI is Changing the Workplace—But Interaction is Irreplaceable
Tanja Piha, Sales Director at Greenstep, captivated the audience with her life-like and inspiring career story. She reminded us that AI opens up limitless possibilities. AI can handle many tasks, but it cannot replace the human connection. How we connect with another person is ultimately the most valuable. Interaction and genuine encounters remain at the heart of the workplace.
Personal Values Guide Career Paths
Elina Anckar, CFO of Marimekko, shared her inspiring career story, which has taken her around the world. Her experiences show that the future of work is built on being human—the importance of values, attitude, and presence is constantly growing.
Elina highlighted her background as the child of evacuees—an experience that has brought a sense of rootlessness to her life, but also dynamism, talkativeness, the courage to seize opportunities, and the ability to feel at home anywhere. Elina emphasized communication skills, emotional intelligence, and curiosity as key skills for the workplace. However, she also stressed that the rapid pace of change in today’s world requires composure.
Our event for leaders was a tremendous success. The discussions were lively, opinions were exchanged boldly, and the career stories of our speakers inspired and sparked thought. There was a genuine sense of connection in the air, and new insights were constantly emerging. Thank you to all participants and speakers, this event will surely be remembered!
