Larisa Lupea enjoys challenges

Larisa wants to know how things work. Due to her curiosity and eagerness to learn, there are never dull days at work.

Larisa Lupea started her career as a project manager at a young age, seven years ago. In her previous job, she significantly developed the field by designing an application that enhances industry processes and saves costs.

It is characteristic of Larisa to challenge herself and constantly push her own boundaries. Two years ago, she decided to truly challenge herself by packing her belongings and moving from Romania to Finland. In Finland she has learned, among other things, that silence is a good thing.

– As an energetic, open, and talkative person, I was initially puzzled when people remained mostly silent during meetings. It is important for me to verbally ensure that everything is going as planned. However, I gradually learned that Finns raise their hands and request to speak if something is not going well. So, silence can definitely be positive, and I have since learned to enjoy it.

Working with skilled professionals brings joy

At Samlink, Larisa, among other things, collaborates with her team to migrate data clusters to the cloud, make database changes, and develop new tools for automating manual processes. Additionally, she leads another team that creates a new testing environment to minimize unnecessary conflicts between testing and application development.

– My primary expertise lies in process standardization. I naturally strive to constantly learn and improve my working methods, which fuels my ambition every day. I also aim to have a general understanding of how things work. I want to work closely with my teams, as that allows us to learn from each other.

It is sometimes expected that a project manager is an expert in the technical field, which can pose challenges. However, it also offers opportunities for learning across multiple technical domains.

Sometimes, projects may begin with only a few days’ notice, and the project manager may not have specific expertise in that particular area. From Larisa’s perspective, it is remarkable how, with a highly skilled team, they can build a customer project from scratch that surpasses all expectations and receives excellent feedback.

– It can be challenging to work as a young project manager in a team where the members may have decades of experience in the field. However, I feel privileged to work with top professionals who know what needs to be done in any given situation. As the processes are deeply ingrained, the project manager’s role is less about guiding practical work and more about ensuring progress according to the schedule. With each project, it is important to understand how that particular project team operates and how I can best support them in performing their work exceptionally well.

Samlink feels like a professional home

– My work is never boring! The thrill, unpredictable events, and the uncertainty of tomorrow are things that drive me forward.

Larisa’s work requires a certain type of positive attitude, which she indeed possesses. The varied and challenging work is also highly rewarding. Positive energy, good interpersonal skills, and an open mindset are essential qualities. With a combination of broad expertise, natural curiosity, and perseverance, a project manager can excel in their work.

– The future looks exciting. As technology advances, continuous learning is crucial, but it is equally important to develop critical thinking skills. Together, these attributes help us navigate situations where we don’t know what new and amazing things await around the corner!
