Enni Raittinen: “You Don’t Need a Technical Background to Build a Career in Tech”
Over the past four years at Samlink, Enni Raittinen has progressed from Product Specialist to Product Manager, even without a technical background.
“I’m very satisfied with how my career has developed in a relatively short time. I believe my curiosity and willingness to learn and take on new challenges have played a key role in getting me where I am today.”
Enni has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and previously worked in personal lending at a bank. Today, she works on developing banking systems for financing and lending processes.
“My strong background in banking has been highly valuable in my role as a Product Manager. It’s rewarding to help develop systems that make everyday work easier for banking professionals.”
Developing professionally has required Enni to step outside her comfort zone. She emphasizes that people can build careers in technology from many different starting points.
“I’m proud of where I am today. What got me here wasn’t a technical background, but my willingness to learn, take initiative, and continuously develop my skills. That has allowed me to grow into a role with significant responsibility.”
Responsibility Fuels Motivation and Growth
When Enni joined Samlink as a Product Specialist after a career in banking, she was quickly given the opportunity to work on projects that helped her develop new skills and broaden her expertise. Being trusted with responsibility from an early stage has been a major source of motivation.
“I feel that Samlink has supported my development very well. I’ve been trusted with a great deal of responsibility in various projects, and that has helped me grow in my role.”
One of the things she values most is the opportunity to work with different people and the support she has received from her colleagues.
“My coworkers have been very supportive. I’ve developed my technical skills through hands-on work and the support I’ve received from others.”
Feedback is another important part of her development.
“I’ve received a lot of positive feedback, and I also welcome constructive feedback as part of continuous improvement.”
Kyndryl Encourages Professional Development
For Enni, having a growth mindset means that everyone should have the opportunity to develop within their role.
“There’s a strong culture of continuous learning here. Everyone is encouraged to develop their skills, which supports both individual growth and the development of the company.”
She values the opportunities that come with working in an international organization.
“We have access to a wide range of online training programs, and there is strong support for developing role-specific expertise. Employees can also express interest in international opportunities. It’s a valuable option, even if it doesn’t fit my current situation.”
Since Enni is still relatively new in her Product Manager role, her current goals focus on developing further in her position.
“I want to continue developing as a Product Manager and learn how to apply AI more effectively in my work.”
“If I Say I’ll Do Something, I follow through”
Enni comes from an entrepreneurial family and started working at a young age, which taught her responsibility.
“I’ve had summer jobs every year since I was nine. That’s where my work ethic comes from, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without it.”
Starting her career early taught her the importance of consistency, attention to detail, and responsibility, which now supports her work in managing broader responsibilities.
“You need to move forward one step at a time. If I say I’ll do something, I follow through.”
