Anssi Rajaniemi
Anssi Rajaniemi is Building a Secure Future as a Network Architect
Anssi Rajaniemi is a professional with almost 20 years of experience in network architecture and network security. His journey towards the role of a Network Architect began in 2004, when he worked on his thesis for Samlink, which then led to a broader career in technology.
Anssi started his career as a technical Project Manager. During this time, he worked on one of the first enterprise-grade PKI-based wireless LAN implementations in Finland, when this technology was still relatively new. Looking back, Anssi remembers how challenging it was to utilize technologies that were just emerging and convince everyone of their security, especially given the recently discovered design flaws in the original wireless security standard in the early 2000s.
However, Anssi soon understood that project management was not the best fit for him. He had a passion for technical work, so he focused more on network architecture and security. Today, he is an expert in designing and implementing secure connectivity solutions based on modern technologies in traditional data centers and in the cloud.
From Design to Defence
Now, as a Network Architect at Samlink, Anssi has a broad and important role. He develops and maintains Samlink’s network architecture, ensuring efficient, reliable and secure networks. A big part of his job is working with partners to implement data center network solutions and support various projects.
— My main skills are in network security and public cloud solutions, Anssi says. His expertise helps him handle Samlink’s complex security needs, making sure the network meets business demands and protects important data.
When asked about his strengths, Anssi quickly mentions teamwork.
— No one does this alone, he says, knowing that today’s complex tech problems need cooperation between different teams. His technical skills and business understanding make him a valuable team member who sees the bigger picture. His hands-on approach is a great advantage in the field of technology.
Cloud Ambitions and Padel Passion
Anssi is positive about the future, especially about using public cloud services more.
—We will rely more on public cloud to speed up development and build highly resilient services, he says. Anssi thinks these technologies will be more important for businesses like Samlink to innovate and grow.
Outside of work, Anssi likes to play padel. It became an important activity for him during the COVID-19 pandemic.
— Padel was one of the few social activities we could still do, and it helped a lot during tough times, he says. What started as a hobby has now become a regular activity, with a group of friends who meet to play often.
